Route 66: August 19th - August 27th

The Hyundai packed with all of Seths' belongings, took him and his father across the country; traveling Rt 66 all the way.

A little history first. Rt 66 was built in the early 1930's. From Chicago to Los Angeles, the route was the first major road to connect out west. Farmers from the midwest used this road to find a better life in California.

When the Interstate Highway System was built in the 1950's, I-40 took over almost all of 66's traffic. Towns that flourished from this traffic soon became deserted. Nowadays few towns are around from the good old days of the 30s and 40s.

Back to the present day. I decided to move to CA after graduating college and took my dad along for the cross country trip.

We ended up using Rt 66 through: Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California. In the whole trip we ended up visiting 16 states, in only 7 days.

Some activities we endured were, West Virginia Hills, Graceland in Memphis, Missouri seclusion, Grand Canyon Helicopter Tour, Las Vegas and alot of old motels and cafe's along the way.
